     Gas Porosity 
 
Usually caused by Cured by
Overheating the metal. Reduce metal casting temperature.
Inadequate burnout. Increase the time at 740oC.
Flask overheated during burnout. Ensure maximum burnout temperature does not exceed 740oC.
Torch flame incorrectly set. Ensure that the flame is not oxygen rich.
Impurities in the metal. Do not use more than 50% recycled alloy and ensure it is clean.
