Hoben International has
supplied mica sheets for over 20 years to the British foundry
industry as an asbestos free electrical and thermal insulating
material.
A new range of mica
sheets is now available from Hoben International which gives the
following benefits to foundries with coreless induction furnaces.
To provide electrical insulation
between the melt and the induction coil by serving as a
barrier against leakage currents and flashover.
To provide a final safety
barrier against metal penetration should the refractory
material become cracked or damaged.
To provide a slip plane between
the crucible and the coil protecting the coil from expansion
caused by the crucible.
To control heat transmission and
minimise heat loss between the melt and the coil.
Hoben Mica Sheets have excellent
flexibility, elasticity, durability, dielectrical strength and
have the ability to withstand very high temperatures.
Hoben Mica Sheets prevent
over-sintering of the refractory lining and act as a
protective barrier during the sintering of the crucible
obtained by the introduction of molten metal.
